Director, Client Success – Breach Notification | KrollLinkedIn

How did your career evolve after graduating from the MBA Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School?

After years at a large Fortune 500 corporation and a short stint at a start up, I found myself ready to take on more upon graduating from UNC. Having an MBA absolutely opened doors to new career opportunities, but it was the education and knowledge that I received at UNC that prepared me most for the next steps in my career. Seriously, I use what I learned in class all the time. Through my network, I was introduced to my current company Kroll. Starting out as a relationship manager, I was encouraged to explore new ways to solve problems and was fortunate to have the opportunity to launch some of my own improvements that are still in use today. Taking things I learned from the operations courses, my favorite change I implemented relieved a bottle neck in day to day processing that streamlined project implementation and saves loads of time for my team everyday. I quickly climbed into a VP and Sr VP role developing my skillsets in business strategy, pricing, and financial analysis. Now in my current role, as the Director, Client Success, I am leading Kroll’s Breach Notification Engagement Team with members of my teams spanning across the globe handling hundreds of breach cases per year.

How did UNC, Kenan-Flagler Business School, the MBA program, or MBA Career Services help you reach where you are today?

My MBA classes at Kenan-Flagler really prepared me for working in today’s world. My experience during the MBA program introduced me to working globally with unique perspectives in an environment that encouraged growth and exploration. I still talk to classmates from my accounting class group projects. We still share and celebrate our wins, both professional and personal. But I will never forget my professor Ashraf Jaffer pushing all of us to learn. She taught the hardest class we had, Financial Accounting. After a recent discussion on how Kroll recognizes intracompany revenue across multiple entities, I messaged Ashraf to say thank you. She truly taught us how to talk the talk and walk the walk, so even years after her class was over, I felt prepared for that discussion! I highly suggest paying attention to your professors and learning all you possibly can from them. They’re a treasure trove of knowledge and only want the best for you so that you leave after graduation and feel prepared in those important moments of your career.

What advice would you give to current MBA students?

Use your network, grow it and embrace the opportunities that come from it – don’t be afraid to say yes!

Share something unique or unexpected about your career journey.

I do magic! I attribute a huge amount of who I am today to the opportunities I had performing magic growing up. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to develop as a strong public speaker and leader. There’s nothing like the joy of performing magic for others!
