Nicole Rojo, Full-Time MBA Class of 2026
Development Associate Intern | Trammell Crow Residential LinkedIn

Where did you land your internship or full-time role?

Trammell Crow Residential as a Development Associate Intern

Briefly describe your experience in landing this role. What challenges did you overcome?

I engaged with alumni, peers, and the Wood Center faculty to refine my internship search, ultimately identifying a few firms aligned with my interests—though none had formal internship postings. I reached out directly about a potential internship opportunity, learned others were doing the same, and was ultimately selected. Throughout the process, I built relationships with current employees, stayed in contact, and leveraged my existing network to help secure the role.

How did UNC, Kenan-Flagler Business School, the MBA program, or MBA Career Services help you secure this opportunity??

Before beginning my internship search, I reached out to the Wood Center for insights and recommended contacts. The Wood Center connected me with alumni who offered valuable guidance and ultimately helped facilitate my introduction to the firm where I interned.

What’s are your long-term career goals?

Lead the next generation of my family’s real estate development business and grow it into a lasting, intergenerational company.

What’s one lesson or insight you hope every MBA student takes with them after graduation?

One insight: Never lose sight of why you started. Purpose keeps you motivated and pushes you to do things you never imagined you could.

Can you share a moment or success story that’s stuck with you during your time in the program?

Last year, our student team won the 34th Annual Bank of America Affordable Housing Challenge. We competed against 8 universities from across the country, proposing a LIHTC development in Charlotte. It was our first time entering, and after 4 months of hard work, we came out on top.
