What industries, functions, or roles are you most interested in pursuing for your internship and beyond?
I am most interested in pursuing opportunities in consulting and finance, where I can help organizations solve complex problems and drive sustainable growth. After graduation, I hope to leverage my MBA to make a meaningful impact by supporting businesses in ways that create value for both people and profits. At the same time, I am eager to continue developing my leadership and expanding my global perspective. Ultimately, I want to contribute to projects that not only achieve strong business outcomes but also generate a positive impact on society.
What drew you to choose UNC Kenan-Flagler for your MBA?
I was drawn to Kenan-Flagler for its collaborative culture, strong focus on leadership development, and outstanding reputation in finance and consulting. Having led diverse teams in banking, I deeply value accountability, motivation, and teamwork- qualities I clearly see reflected in the Tar Heel community. Beyond academics, the welcoming environment of Chapel Hill and the support I’ve received as a Forté Fellow and Vetter Dean’s Fellow reaffirm that this is the right place for me to grow both personally and professionally.
What’s been the most meaningful or memorable experience so far in your first year (class, project, club, recruiting, etc.)?
One of the most meaningful experiences so far has been Orientation. In that short but intense time, I had the chance to meet classmates from all over the world with very diverse backgrounds and cultures. Despite our differences, we are united by a common dream- the personal and professional growth that comes with pursuing a full-time MBA at Kenan-Flagler. This experience has already shown me the power of collaboration and the supportive community that defines the Tar Heel spirit.
How have your classes, MBA Career Services, or peers helped you prepare for recruiting and internship search?
Although classes have just begun, I have already benefited greatly from the support around me. My career coach has been instrumental in helping me refine my resume and identify areas for improvement as I prepare for recruiting. At the same time, second-year students have been incredibly open in sharing their experiences and advice from their own recruiting processes, which has given me valuable perspective and guidance for the journey ahead.
What are your short-term and long-term career goals?
In the short term, my goal is to pursue a consulting internship with a global firm where I can strengthen my strategic and problem-solving skills, gain exposure to different industries, and broaden my experience working with international teams. In the long term, I aspire to combine my consulting and banking background to take on a leadership role in finance or strategy. My ultimate objective is to help organizations grow in ways that generate both strong business outcomes and a positive impact on society.
What’s one lesson or insight you’ve gained during your first year that you think will carry you forward in your MBA journey?
One key lesson I’ve gained so far is the importance of embracing diverse perspectives. Working with classmates from different backgrounds and cultures has shown me that the best solutions often come from collaboration and openness to new ideas. This insight will guide me throughout my MBA journey as I continue to learn, adapt, and grow alongside such a talented and diverse community.
Is there anyone (e.g., faculty, peers, mentors) you’d like to recognize for their support?
Grateful for the support of Beth Hwang, the Vetter Dean’s Fellows community, and Lica Hertz. Their guidance has made my start at UNC Kenan-Flagler smoother, more intentional, and incredibly motivating.
