Briefly describe your experience in landing this role. What challenges did you overcome?

Michelle Voorhies is a seasoned marketing and digital product professional with over 20 years of experience driving Fortune 500 companies to take a more customer centric view of their priorities & strategy. Michelle is currently the AVP, Consumer Products with Ascension Health. In this role, she leads teams modernizing digital patient experiences. Prior to this new position, Michelle was the Vice Chair, Digital Product with the Mayo Clinic where she provided executive leadership to cross-functional teams responsible for transforming the care delivery focused product portfolio. She blends strategic storytelling with IT innovation to enhance operational efficiency and elevate digital health experiences. With her dynamic leadership and tech-forward mindset, she consistently shapes the business of health through practical, scalable solutions. In previous roles, Michelle has led digital and marketing teams in retail, hospitality and financial services. Michelle has a BS, Marketing from the University of Florida and is a member of the Kenan-Flagler Executive MBA class of 2026. Outside of work, Michelle is a mom, wife and passionate member of the Chapel Hill community involved in a number of local charities.

The Leadership courses I have taken during the MBA program have provided a strong framework to evaluate my goals and career path, playing a significant role in me to exploring new opportunities.

 

What are your long-term career goals?

I plan to continue to work in the digital health space, with hopes of diversifying with advisory and board roles in the industry.

 

What’s one lesson or insight you hope every MBA student takes with them after graduation?

Be open to considering new ways of thinking as you approach your coursework.

 

Can you share a moment or success story that’s stuck with you during your time in the program?

A moment that was impactful for me during the program was the first Impact Weekend, where topics focused on leading through adversity and resilience. Methods shared were directly applicable as my organization was driving forward a sizable transformation.
