Where did you land your internship or full-time role?
NetApp, Internal Audit Intern – SOX Compliance
Briefly describe your experience in landing this role. What challenges did you overcome?
As an international student, recruiting in the U.S. came with its share of challenges — from adapting to a new job market to building a professional network from scratch. I relied on networking, practice interviews, and the guidance of my second-year classmates to navigate the process. This experience taught me the importance of resilience and persistence throughout the recruiting journey.
How did UNC, Kenan-Flagler Business School, the MBA program, or MBA Career Services help you secure this opportunity?
The Kenan-Flagler community played a central role in helping me secure my internship. The Career & Leadership team provided personalized coaching and mentorship, while second-year classmates and my fellow first-year peers shared insights, resources, and supported me with interview preparation along the way. Thanks to this support, I landed my internship at NetApp on the Internal Audit – SOX Compliance team, where I applied my finance background in a fast-paced tech environment and learned directly from experienced professionals.
What are your long-term career goals?
My long-term career goal is to continue building expertise in corporate finance and strategy, with a focus on driving growth and operational excellence in the tech or healthcare industries. I aspire to take on leadership roles where I can combine financial insight with strategic decision-making to create lasting impact for organizations and the communities they serve.
What’s one lesson or insight you hope every MBA student takes with them after graduation?
One lesson I hope every MBA student takes with them is the importance of building authentic relationships. Technical skills and business knowledge are valuable, but it’s the support, mentorship, and collaboration within the Kenan-Flagler community that truly make the difference in both personal and professional growth.
Can you share a moment or success story that’s stuck with you during your time in the program?
A success story that has stuck with me is collaborating with my STAR team on a complex healthcare project. It was a true learning experience to see how classmates from different backgrounds came together, challenged each other’s thinking, and ultimately delivered a strong set of recommendations. It highlighted the power of teamwork and diversity in problem-solving.
Is there anyone (e.g., faculty, peers, mentors) you’d like to recognize for their support?
I’d like to recognize my classmates—both second-years and fellow first-years—who dedicated their time to share insights, run mock interviews, and support each other during the recruiting process. That sense of community showed me the true spirit of Kenan-Flagler and reminded me that success here is never achieved alone.
