Bradly Boaz, Full-Time MBA Class of 2026

Cypress Legacy Champion | Commercial Leadership Development Program Intern at Bristol Myers SquibbLinkedIn

Where did you land your internship or full-time role?

I landed my internship at Bristol Myers Squibb, as a Commercial Leadership Development Program (CLDP) intern on Breyanzi US HCP marketing

Briefly describe your experience in landing this role. What challenges did you overcome?

My first week of recruiting I realized that landing a pharmaceutical internship was easier said than done. I split my challenges into two buckets: recruiting and pharma fluency. Recruiting meant everything from coffee chats to interviews, with so many mock interviews over Christmas break that I got tired of hearing my own voice. I still made time for turkey and stuffing, one of my personal favorites. Pharma fluency was its own challenge. I got through it with plenty of Fierce Pharma articles and help from the Healthcare Club, which gave me a crash course in Pharma 101. I like to call this the life cycle management of my recruiting journey (bad joke!)

How did UNC, Kenan-Flagler Business School, the MBA program, or MBA Career Services help you secure this opportunity?

Looking back on my recruitment journey, it was the people who defined my experience. If it hadn’t been for the academic clubs in the MBA program, my internship experience would have looked and felt very different. The clubs are student led by people who have been there and done that. I learned how to interview, how to network, and how to explore a new career path in pharmaceuticals that I had never been introduced to before

What are your long-term career goals?

My biggest takeaway from the summer is that I discovered how much I enjoy pharmaceuticals. Looking ahead, I hope to contribute in a marketing role with a particular focus on oncology and infectious disease

What’s one lesson or insight you hope every MBA student takes with them after graduation?

People matter. Learn the work, but REALLY take the time to know the people behind each role. That’s where you’ll discover more than you ever imagined

Can you share a moment or success story that’s stuck with you during your time in the program?

I’ll never forget a simple moment in my MBA when I volunteered as a strategy consultant for the Red Cross. The project was meant for Vetter-Dean students, and I wasn’t one. Still, I expressed interest and was welcomed with open arms. Before I knew it, I was an active team member helping launch and present the project. That’s the UNC difference, and it’s something that will always stand out to me

Is there anyone (e.g., faculty, peers, mentors) you’d like to recognize for their support?

I’d like to give a shoutout to Brandt Mitchell, Rebecca Tong, Hailey Patel, and Amir Nili. From a three-year-long mentor and friend to kind words in the hallway, I couldn’t have done it without my biggest supporters. Thank you all!
