Why did you choose UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School for your MBA?

Choosing UNC Kenan-Flagler was easy because Carolina has always been home to me. After working with the STAR Program as an undergraduate, I saw firsthand the quality of the faculty, staff, and community that make Kenan-Flagler special. Now, I’m excited to be in the driver’s seat and take full advantage of the same experiential learning opportunities I once helped create for other students.

What are your short-term and long-term career goals?

My short-term goal is to pursue a Leadership Development Program in Human Resources or a Management Consulting role focused on Human Capital. Long term, I hope to become a Chief People Officer and help organizations turn data into people-centered solutions that improve outcomes.

How has your experience prepared you for your MBA and career goals?

My interest in business grew through research in organizational behavior, student organizations, and my work with the STAR Program. Supporting student teams delivering consulting projects for Fortune 500 companies exposed me to structured problem-solving and taught me how to manage ambiguity. It also showed me how organizations can struggle to turn large amounts of data into actionable decisions—an area I’m excited to explore further through my MBA.

How have MBA Career Services, your classes, or your peers helped you prepare for your first year?

Even in my first few weeks, MBA Career Services, program staff, and my classmates have provided an incredible support system. From orientation and academics to recruitment preparation, the resources and relationships around me have created a strong foundation for my first year.

What’s one lesson or insight you’ve gained during your first year?

During Rushab Kamdar’s “The Art of Showing Up” talk, one quote really stuck with me: “Compete with yourself. Help everyone else.” I’ve seen that philosophy throughout the Kenan-Flagler community. Your greatest competition is who you were yesterday, and your greatest asset is the people around you.

Can you share a memorable moment from your MBA experience?

The Legacy Presentations have been one of my favorite experiences so far. In just a few days, my group created and performed an eight-minute skit showcasing our backgrounds, interests, and talents. Collaborating under a tight timeline and seeing everyone’s personality shine reminded me that the MBA is as much about the people you meet as the skills you develop. Go Pisgah!
