How did your career evolve after starting the MBA Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School?

I came to UNC Kenan-Flagler looking to break into a new industry, and quickly learned that recruiting would require a strong focus on networking. While balancing interviews with the transition to a new MBA program, location, and community, I ultimately landed a Senior Business Finance Consultant role at EY after my first year.

 

How did UNC, Kenan-Flagler Business School, the MBA program, or MBA Career Services help you reach where you are today?

UNC Kenan-Flagler and MBA Career Services helped me prepare early for recruiting and connected me with alumni who provided valuable guidance throughout the process. Those relationships and resources gave me the confidence and support to navigate a career transition and find the right opportunity.

 

What are your long-term career goals?

My long-term goal is to build a career in finance consulting, gaining experience across industries and business challenges while continuing to discover where I can create the most value.

What’s one lesson or insight you hope every MBA student takes with them after graduation?

Be open, stay curious, and do not underestimate the value of relationships. Some of the best opportunities and lessons come from people you meet and experiences you never planned for.

Can you share a moment that stuck with you during your time in the program?

After accepting a return offer from an internship I enjoyed, I was able to focus on the parts of the MBA experience that I found most rewarding—from giving back through the BCC and TA work to club involvement and organizing a ski trip to the Alps. It felt like a full-circle moment, going from the uncertainty of my first year to supporting others and fully enjoying the MBA experience.
